Arts District Community Council is proud to have been invited to join the LA Business Council as a cooperating organization for the 2015 Sustainability Summit, taking place at the Getty Center’s Harold M. Williams Auditorium on April 24th, from 7:30am to 2:00pm. Hailed by notables nationwide as the singular L.A. event that captures how to best build and capitalize in the clean tech economy, this exceptional forum advocates for business-driven solutions and effective public policy to help Los Angeles realize its clean energy future.
They key theme of LABC’s 2015 Sustainability Summit is the “Path to Paris” and what the global conversation at the 2015 United Nations Climate Change Conference means for California and the Los Angeles region.
This year’s Summit will focus on a variety of topics including: The global renewable energy market; setting an interim target and standard for greenhouse gas emissions reductions to keep California on the path toward its 80% by 2050 goal; California’s cap and trade program; grid integration and planning for more distributed generation, electric vehicles and advanced energy efficiency in Los Angeles; implementation of the state water bond; and L.A.’s strategies to source 50% of our water locally.
The LABC Institute will also unveil a new Los Angeles River Report that identifies economic tools and strategies that can help to accelerate its revitalization and suggests opportunities that leverage this unprecedented investment in sustainable infrastructure to maximize economic, environmental, health and equity benefits to neighboring communities, particularly those near transit. With generous support from the California Community Foundation and the Rosalinde and Arthur Gilbert Foundation, LABC Institute has convened an advisory committee consisting of leaders from government, businesses, and community and environmental groups who are actively engaged in the L.A. River to help guide this study. We will tie the release of the report to a special panel discussion focused on achieving both the environmental and community economic development goals of the L.A. River revitalization.
This year’s Summit Co-Chairs include: the California Community Foundation, JPMorgan Chase & Co., Haworth, Unisource Solutions, Inc., Los Angeles Department of Water & Power, Southern California Gas Company/Sempra Energy, PIPE Group, Trammell Crow Company, STV Construction, the Getty Center of Los Angeles and the Office of Los Angeles City Mayor Eric Garcetti.
Confirmed and Invited keynotes and program participants include: Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti; Michael Picker, President of the California Public Utilities Commission; State Senator Fran Pavley; Brad Cox, Senior Managing Director of Trammell Crow Company; and Dominick M. Servedio, Executive Chairman of STV Construction, among others.
We will also be honoring State Treasurer John Chiang at our VIP Reception.
There are no costs associated with becoming a cooperating organization – we ask only that you invite your members to the Summit by mid-March/first week of April through a direct email blast, or by inclusion in your monthly or quarterly e-newsletter and copy us.
